Set within the historic Mountbatten enclave, LIV@MB stands in one of Singapore’s more distinguished residential neighbourhoods — a district known since the 19th century for its grand black and white bungalows by the sea, affluent residents, and distinctive blend of European and Peranakan architectural heritage. Once regarded as Singapore’s first “coastal millionaires’ row”, the area was defined by sprawling plantation estates, holiday villas and iconic Anglo-Malaya houses. LIV@MB draws from this storied past, reinterpreting the charm and character of historic Mountbatten living through a contemporary lens.

ONG&ONG was engaged to shape the development's landscaping and introduce a vision where nature and recreation sit at the heart of the residential experience. Sited on slightly elevated ground along Mountbatten Road, LIV@MB devotes most of its grounds to greenery and communal spaces. A long, elegant driveway leads to a sheltered drop-off, opening into a central lawn that recalls the broad garden forecourts of traditional landed estates in the colonial era. This generous arrival sequence anchors an elegant gardenesque tropical mansion surrounded by lush planting and open lawns.

Across the landscaped deck, a thoughtful composition of hardscape and softscape elements support both active and contemplative pursuits. Key amenities include expansive lawns, lifestyle' pavilions, a children’s playground and an eco-pond.

The sensorial landscape experience  is further enhanced by water to recall the days of yore when Mountbatten/Katong  used to be a popular seaside destination; from a beach-style wading pool in sand-toned pebble wash to a main lap pool with shallow water decks for lounging, cascading water wall, and spa pools. Sheltered walkways ensure comfortable movement in varying weather conditions, while the fire-engine access path also serves as safe cycling routes for families.

The verdant groundscape extends vertically through elevated communal gardens. On the 11th-storey sky terrace, planting wraps around jacuzzi pods, lounge alcoves and seating niches to create a quieter and cosier environment. Higher still, the rooftop on the 20th storey features an infinity-edge lap pool, a small lawn, dining pavilions with ensuite outdoor lounges offering panoramic views across the Mountbatten landed enclave and city skyline.

Through its layered arrangement of gardens, water features, pavilions, and connecting pathways, the landscape by ONG&ONG delivers a modern interpretation of skyrise villa-living — honouring Mountbatten’s history of expansive grounds and coastal leisure, while providing residents with a refined and contemporary outdoor lifestyle.
