The Seletar Bus Depot is an initiative by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority to provide more bus parking and repair facilities for the new commuter bus routes. In a very subtle way, the design reflects the notion that transportation is essentially about moving people – which explains the idea of movement that unfurls across what is fundamentally a functional, utilitarian building.
A linear ribbon of windows undulates along the pre-cast façade panels and perforated metal screens. The variation in window size and shape creates a dramatic sense of change. Here, form follows function – full height windows serve large gathering spaces like the canteen, while offices and operations have smaller windows.
