Biography


Louis YT Tan, specialises in heading large multi-use developments, most recently for the MRT Line 2 design, covering approximately 50km with 36 stations. He is also attached to Taylor's University as Thesis supervisor for the M. Arch programme. He graduated with the Roy Stringer Prize (RIBA Pt2) from Canterbury College of Art, Canterbury UK (now known as University for the Creative Arts, UK). Believing in the making of environs' he was part of the concept team in 1993 for the New Administrative Capital City - Putrajaya and his Garden-City concept was the selected option. His portfolio includes Resort Homes and Greenstreet bungalows at Sierramas, Selangor; Mandarina series in Cheras; and Riana Green PJ and Kiaraville KL. Other works of note are Luxury Resort Housing at Al Saadas, Abu Dhabi; privatization of land at Rubber Research Institute, Sg Buloh; redevelopment of Kota Kinabalu Waterfront, Sabah; Canal City with IJM Land; urban development finalization for Pusat Bandar Damansara; and competition finalist for University of Nottingham in Malaysia. In 2011, he pursued design & build works with emphasis on the integration of 'water' in the making of urban environments. This led to the implementation of the lake and water-bodies at Glades, Putra Heights, as well as a non-chlorinated bio-filtered swimming pool in Bali. He remains committed to making places that support communal wellbeing in an ecologically sustainable built environment.
