149 Neil Road

149 Neil Road is a conservation shop house which emphasises cultural sensitivity via the renewal of its external facade and remodelling of its interiors to suit modern living. The result is an open concept interior within its 422.5 m2 traditional frame.

The house's soul revolves around a soothing, water-scaped airwell. Originally left exposed, a glass roof was added to provide shelter without drastically altering the aesthetics of the interior.

In essence, the restoration of 149 Neil Road successfully created a contemporary home while also paying due homage to the house's Peranakan heritage.
